- Great Value Review by DBarrett

Quality Price Value Got the riser fitted with a pair of TT 40# medium carbon/wood core limbs today. After setup and shooting a couple hours it was tested against the Das Dalaa bow. The Dalaa was pulling 2# more at my 30.5" draw. With a 294 grain arrow both clocked 212 fps. The Hoyat TT combo was half the cost. I did find this combo a little light and the grip was high so you may wont to order a lower style grip?

- Great Riser...Great Service! Review by Bo Archer

Price Value Quality I just received my 21" Excel riser in Blackout paired up with Medium 40# TT Black Max carbon limbs. The combination is smooth, fast, and quiet, even without silencing accessories. Looks great, too.
The folks at Lancaster really read my mind. They knew I was configuring a traditional setup based on my order; so they installed a free, custom-radiused rug rest on the shelf and a pressure plate over the plunger hole with a bit of a bulge to put the arrow right past center-shot. All without me even having to ask! They also included a free Flemish Twist string that was pre-nocked in exactly the right spot. That’s what I call customer service!
The reason I rated the quality of the riser as a 4 was because one of the grip bolt holes stripped when I removed the bolt to install the wooden Hoyt Ortho Grip. I had to re-tap it to get the bolt back in. The other one was fine, however.
I’m really enjoying shooting this rig. I did a lot of research and shot a lot of bows before I decided on this setup. The riser is a great foundation. And since it’s ILF, I can easily move-up to heavier limbs for distance. I also got a set of Medium TT Glass/Wood limbs in 35# to work on my form and for short-range practice. That’s flexibility.(Posted on 3/5/13)

Value Quality Price Of all the different bows I have shot over the last several years, my 21" Excel riser paired up with TT Black Max limbs is probably my favorite set-up. I have the black-out finish on my riser which not only looks great , but Is also very durable and is excellent for hunting. I draw just over 30.5" and the riser with medium or long limbs are about as smooth as any bow I have shot. I was worried about ILF-style bows being noisy-but have found this combination to be as quiet as any other recurve I have owned. Other aspects of the bow I like: small, narrow grip which I like; center-shot which makes tuning arrows easy; adjustable tiller; and incredible low price. Oddly, I feel this is 'the bow' for me, even though it is one of the least expensive outfits I have owned.

- Great Riser Review by ChadMR82

Price Value Quality I have had several ILF risers and may of which costs much more. I just keep going back to my 21 inch Hoyt Excel. It is hard to beat this riser. This with a set of TT BM limbs and you have a great hunting/target bow. The grip is great but I ended up getting a GMX diamondwood grip. It has the same contour of the Excel grip but it is wood and it looks better.

- Handles heavier limbs just fine Review by Kayaker

Value Quality Price Ordered the 21 inch excel in black out with medium wood/glass black max limbs in 55 pounds to be my primary hunting bow. The riser handles the heavier limbs just fine. Mine liked a brace height of 8 1/2 inches and two string leeches.

- Great value in a machined riser. Review by gumboman

Price Value Quality This machined aluminum riser is quite impressive for the price. It shows good workmanship and has a quality appearance. It feels great in my hand as I love the small diameter grip. It's shape allows me to shoot with a relaxed grip and I have no fear of torquing or of dropping the bow. I have the Black Max wood and fiberglass limbs in 45# mounted to this bow and this makes for a great combination. It is a fantastic set up, shoots great and cannot be beat for the price. At my draw of 28 1/2 inches, a 2117 aluminum arrow 30 inches long (weights about 580 grains) will shoot 174 fps. I plan on getting a set of Black Max carbon, wood and fiberglass limbs in 50# for this coming hunting season. Unless you have to have an all wood and glass custom bow that costs much more, this combo is the way to go.

Value Quality Price This is an excellent riser and a very low price. I especailly like the 21" version. This length works well for my 3D shooting and is not too long to use for hunting. I wish I had not waited so long to try one.

- Great Riser, I'm very happy with it. Review by Bob

Price Value Quality I got this riser for my Granddaughter. I had a body shop strip and paint it in her favorite school color. It definitely is a good value for the money and a quality riser. I'm using it with loaner limbs while I wait (2 months so far) for the limbs I ordered at the same time to arrive. It is very quiet while shooting and is very easy for my granddaughter to handle.

- Makes an excellent bow with Trad Tech Black Max limbs Review by jchase
-
Price Value Quality Purchased a 21" Excel riser and John added Trad Tech Black Max limbs in the weight I desired. He really worked hard to set it up just as I desired it to be....and he succeeded. I have compounds and one piece recurves and longbow, but I do believe this has become my new favorite. This has the longest length of any of them at 66" ("long" limbs on 21" riser) and is a very smooth shooting bow. While it is cut past center, John set it up with nice appearing stiff felt - shaped appropriately - to create an off the shelf shooting platform which - at 43# - will shoot my 1916 and 2013 arrows with precision. He added adjustable nock points on the string, and all arrows shot true with no further adjustment.
I am very satisfied with the bow, consider it a valuable purchase and would highly recommend it to all. The service at Lancaster has been excellent. Thank you, John!(Posted on 10/24/11)
