The second I had is now broken... The lower plastic cap just broke without any warning. It's still usable but then again, that's the second that breaks on me. Stay away.

I purchased this stringer for my Hoyt formula excel, 68 in. 36 lb., work great, better than the Sauder one. I've used it about 150 times and never had a problem.

This thing is dangerous! Review by Mike

This stringer is dangerous and not reliable. The first time I used it I'll admit I didn't fully understand how to use it. And I learned that using the rubber piece that slides down the limb, even if firmly in place incorrectly upside down, will slip and the limb can smack you in the face, which it did. Granted user error but not what I was expecting. Next, and this happened last night, after learning how to use the stringer, I was working to string my new 55lb recurve and the hard plastic piece that fits over the limb tip completely shattered. Luckily when it shattered the rope and an attached piece of hard plastic slide down the limb and lodge securely in place which stopped the limb from hitting me. I had to cut the string to get the broken piece off my limb and when the hard plastic broke it scratched my new bow before I even had a chance to shoot it.

Don't Buy The Hoyt Recurve Stringer, Not A Good Choice! Review by lcrhode

After reading the past reviews regarding this product I was very reluctant to purchasing the Hoyt Bow Stringer. But since the bow stringer I wanted to order from Lancaster Archery Supply was on back order (forever) I gave this bow stringer a second look. I called Hoyt and talked with one of their customer service reps. He assured me there was no problem with the bow stringer and he never herd of any problems or malfunctions. Based on the words of the spokesman from Hoyt I ordered the Hoyt bow stringer. Well, what can I say. After only using it two times and using it correctly (as pictured on the Lancaster Archery Supply web site — because Hoyt failed to provide adequate instructions), the bow stringer fell apart. The plastic cup that covers the lower limb broke apart in two pieces almost damaging the limbs themselves. I am sending back the two bow stringers I ordered back to Lancaster Archery Supply and getting my money back. It is not a good product and I don't recommend anybody getting one. Imagine it is the most pricey bow stringer of all of Lancaster Archery Supplies choices, yet the most unreliable.

I post a review before for hoyt stringer in 10/19/11, then I saw also reviews didn't like it, but I told my self " wait a minute, how could hoyt make bad item like that, there must be a mistake, then I discoverd that I didn't know how to use it correctly but after I saw the pictures I discovered the right way , then when I try it, I discover that hoyt string is the best, very easy and safe, BUT they have to make a manual for using it in safe and right way, Thanks a lot Hoyt for that stringer.

Messed up my limbs! Review by Daniel Pleasant

I just used it for the first time. The result ended up with the top limp rubber membrane separating from the actual string. This cascaded into, effectively, dry firing my F4 limbs off my riser. Let's just say my limbs look like they just got massaged with a ball-peen hammer. Do NOT buy!!!!

I used it once and I could not even get the string installed, it just fell apart and broke to pieces. Stay away from this product. I had faith in Hoyt and ordered it even though it was more expensive than the other products. Bad bad idea.
