- Good, but... Review by Midnightwarrior

With a little bit of more work such as precision cut notches and heavier clamps this jig could easily get 5 stars. I read the instructions from end to end several times before staring to fletch. I could not find any instructions to set up the offset in the standard jig for straight fletching but after several tries, I got about as close to trueness as the jig would allow. The rest of the instructions are good and concise including those for helical fletching. However this jig is not precise. The offset even after several tries could not be set precisely. Some arrows within the same batch, fletch with the correct offset while others do not and are ever so "off" simply because the arrow placement notches are not cut precisely. I am talking .005mm but it matters enough in long distance shooting. 3 out of 6 clamps, when placed in the notches made for the purpose, wiggle ever so slightly that they end up applying uneven pressure on the fletching. I tried to match the clamps to the dovetails by switching them in slots to see if they would fit better but no luck. In other words, there is too much play. They are also not heavy enough so slight initial pinching pressure by your fingers on the clamp and the arrow shaft is advised on initial placement of the fletched clamp on the shaft. That German precision is missing and is reflected in the Jig's price. If you are a competitive Archer and fletch your own arrow, then avoid this jig. Hunters can get by just fine after taking there time to diligently set it up as most shots are within 30 yards. But if you shoot 70-90 yards, the imprecise fletching will show its downside.. If the manufacturers bother to read these reviews, then my advice is to use thicker material both for the jig (more clamp contact with the surface area of the dovetails for stability) and the clamps and make the offset markings on the sliding bar precise like a ruler, in millimeters. And, cut the Dovetails with tighter tolerances so the clamps have no play. If this jig was made with more attention to detail and the above mentioned shortcomings were addressed, I would gladly pay more for it.

This jig is excellent. There is a little trial and error involved, but once you get it set, you are good to go! All steel and aluminum construction, it will last 3 lifetimes. It puts feathers on exactly the same every time. Watch out for your nocks sliding down in the nock receivers. It looks like it will do any arrow diameter and any nock style or size. I highly recommend it, my only other jig is the Arizona EZ fletch and it didn't work for me. I use carbon arrows with 5 inch feathers and traditional broadheads.
