Solid Vanes Review by LB

I gave these vanes a shot because their concept and design sounded intriguing. Now that I have been shooting them a few weeks, I can give a honest review.

I feel people may be a little harsh on these vanes. I find them to be comparable to every other vane out there. I have tried XS Wings, Spin Wings, and Eli vanes and the Jet 6 shot on par with all of them. Would I say they shot massively better as they like like to advertise? Not necessarily, but I will say on average that the Jet 6 vanes tend to group a little tighter than others. That being said, there difference in group size is only millimeters.

What I like about the vanes most is their geometry. Other vanes are just a curved wafer of plastic, but the Jet 6 vanes are actually shaped in such a way at the base of the vane that is contours the arrow shaft and provides more surface area to tape to that is also less likely to pull away over time.

The heat shrink I actually found to be a huge improvement over standard end tape. Tape can peel up over time and rip. The heat shrink does not. It is much more secure and doesn't budge even after weeks of 100+ arrows shot per day. Many people complain the heat shrink is difficult to apply, I can't understand what makes them say that. You just slide it down the shaft, hit it with a lighter and you're done. Now I will say the provided heat shrink is clearly sized for X10's and Nano Pros. If you shoot larger diameter shafts, it may not fit. However you can find heat shrink in many different gauges at hardware stores to use instead.

The only thing I dont like about these vanes is the price. Nothing about these vanes warrants a $35 price tag in my opinion. When nearly every other vane on the market costs $10 less per pack, I would be less inclined to buy these again. They work great, but not $10 more great. Only reason I removed stars.

Otherwise, they are excellent vanes I would recommend to any recurve shooter.

Better than other spinnies Review by CG

These vanes are great IF INSTALLED CORRECTLY. I've used xswings and spider vanes in the past, and I find the Jet6 design to be much better. The way the bottom part curls back to follow the curve of the arrow is ingenious and promotes much better adhesion of the double sided tape. I actually found the consistency of the offset and curve of the Jet6 vanes to be much better than the spider vanes. I love the ease of installation using the heat shrink compared to tape, I just use a heat gun at the appropriate temperature setting. I have extra arrows so I don't really have to worry about field repairs. You can still use the heat shrink for arrows larger than X10s as well, you just have to stretch them out a bit first with something like snap ring pliers. They still shrink no problem.

Pretty rubbish utterly unfriendly Review by Big Arnie

First of all the good bit, theyre easy to fletch. The niggly bits, the heat shrink is not a good idea in fact its rubbish, why would you want to remove your knock just to get one on, tape works. The double. sided tape has the occasional habit of remaining on the paper. The rubbish bits. They fold, every now and again youll see an arrow head off down the range doing some funky acrobatics and youll find your fletching folded across the line of the channeling. They crease easily too. The worst bit. Im an experienced 1200 + recurver and i can tell you theyre terrible in wind, they are also totally unforgiving of less than a perfect shot, its as if theyre trying to spin but cant, they dont stabilise very well and often resemble a blank shaft and groupings suffer. In all they do not do what they say on the tin much better out there at half the cost.

No good Review by Midnightwarrior

other than the tape supplied, these are snake oil. Why? Well first, they are not precise on the off set angle. From vane to vane, the offset angle differs from 1 degree to as much as 1.5. Out of the 50 supplied I have had to discard at least 30%. The shrink tube is not a good idea. So stick with the tape unless you want to apply heat to your x10 shaft every time you have to reinstall. They do go on easy and stay as they are radiused to the shaft. The resident Chua Vista athletes have to use these because they are under a contract to do so. So don't go making your decision based on what the top archers use. They get their equipment for free. We pay from our pocket.
