Why the VMP is the right choice. Review by Kolby Hanley

I’ll be flat out honest, this is the most expensive fletching jig have ever gotten. At first I was a little nervous investing $200+ into a fletching jig, however my nervousness was completely diminished upon first use. Hands down, no questions asked, flat out, straight up, no BS, BEST fletching jig I have ever used. I thought about how much it costs on paper and couldn’t see why it was so expensive. I then realized that you don't need any extra “add ons” after buying it. For example, with other jigs if you want a straight fletch, left, or right helical, you would need to buy 3 different clamps. Also if your serious about your fletching accuracy, once you got a jig set where you wanted, you couldn’t move it if you wanted to fletch two arrows the same ever again. When buying the VMP, you don’t need to invest more money into other claps, or nock adapters, thats what makes it such a valuable commodity to have and worth every cent.
I have always dreaded fletching arrows and put it off until the last second, The Vane Master Pro has changed that. It makes fletching so easy and quick, its no longer a chore that needs to get done. The wires that hold the vane don't get full of glue and because they are on a self centering swivel the vane gets 100% even contact every time! Also, you can control which degree helical (left or right) you want within seconds. I am very happy with my purchase of this product and would recommend the VMP over any other jig on the market.

P.S. This fletching jig is only for those archers who appreciate accuracy and consistency. If you don't mind shooing less X’s, and wider groups then don't buy one. Personally I'm in the game to win, so be a winner and buy the VMP. – “The VMP is no BS…”

IV been using the Vane Master Pro for little over a year. IV had no problems with it! It works great on small arrows like the Easton x10 or in the bigger 2712 arrows. IV used it on all kinds of vane base sizes and it works on all of them! Even flax fletch vanes. That have a very small vane base! Of your looking for a new fletching jig that's very well built and works every time you need it. Look into a Vane Master pro! You'll use it time and time again for building all your arrows!

I've had this Jig for a while now and It's the best I've ever used. Review by GRIV

I usually don’t take time to write reviews on websites, but i bought a VaneMaster Pro a good while ago and thought I should take a moment and say a few things, because I think it’s the most underrated new product to come along in the last couple years.

First of all, I have been fletching arrows since I was a kid and of course I did all the fletching on the old JoJan multi fletcher or the old Bitzenburger. Once you got the moves down you could do an adequate job getting matched dozens. It was tough with a JoJan but you could get it done on a Bitzenburger as long as you used one jig for the whole dozen and then never moved it again. If you ever moved it to fletch a different size arrow, you were done. The likelihood of getting another matched dozen wasn't good.

I tried the VaneMaster Pro partially because it was the first time i’d seen anything new in fletching technology in a hundred years, and I was interested in the idea of the two wires and their ability to be truly helical. Secondly, I was really liking the fact that i could easily change the distance of the vane from the nock and do it accurately.

On opening the box, the first thing i noticed was how nicely it packed down in it’s container. I usually carry a jig with me in case i need to make emergency repairs and the clean pack-down is a welcome surprise. All of the parts had a very precise fit and the laser etched marks on the jig made it easy for me to set up the jig. The jig has super clear and coherent markings that I could record and reference later when I wanted to recreate a fletching recipe. Most jigs i have used in the past just had hash marks or I had to mark it with a pencil or something. Inaccurate to say the least.

Because this jig is a little different from what i was used to, it took a few tries and a few dozen arrows fletched to get the moves down so I could fletch with good craftsmanship and turn out dozen after dozen perfectly matched arrows with super clean glue lines. I remember scraping my old Bitz clamp or getting a bad vane adhesion because of built up glue residue. It was such a pain. The wires on the VaneMaster are coated with a plastic that the glue won’t stick to, so it was easy to wipe those off in the process of fletching so it never gets all gummed up. TOTAL HEAVEN!

I have now fletched all of my X-10 ProTours, X23 Aluminums, FullBore Carbon, and X27 Aluminums on it, and because of the repeatable settings I can match the fletch job dozen to dozen and re-adjust the jig between different size arrows without worry of losing all my magic settings. No Matter if I am just looking for a slight offset or a full-on helical, the wire system on the VaneMaster made sure that base of the vane is pressed down fully on the shaft over the entire length of the vane.

Before I bought the VMP I heard all the grousing about price and the complaints from people who didn’t take time to read the manual. Some folks didn't take a minute and try to learn the moves with the new tool. I’m SOO GLAD I tried it because I've never had more accurate arrows. The pain in the rear that comes with trying to match last year’s awesome fletching recipe is GONE! I can quickly reset the jig between arrow types and get rolling easily.

Premium pro tools cost money and sometimes the cheapest option isn’t as cheap as you think when you have to factor in all the extras you have to buy to make it work such as, additional clamps, nock receivers, or after market parts spruce up a crummy design. You also can’t forget the pain and suffering factor you have to endure because the cheap tool is less than adequate for the job. If you're just fletching range arrows for archery classes, you can use anything you want, it doesn’t really matter for an arrow you're shooting 10 yards out of a wooden bow. HOWEVER, if you intend to be standing on the line shooting for all the money or staring through your sight at the biggest deer you’ve ever seen, you better have a VaneMaster Pro to make arrows.

One more thing…. It won’t do feathers very well because feathers are inconsistent in width and base thickness and they vary too much to be used in the precise manner that the VaneMaster Pro fletches arrows. But for the life of me, I don’t know why you’d want to use a fletch material so imprecise you can’t use a quality tool to fletch arrows. Just Sayin’

Thanks for reading.
GRIV

As a reward for getting this far….. here’s my fletching recipe for the 2315 X23 Easton Aluminum I shot in Vegas.

VANES: AAE 3” Max Stealth
ARROW SHAFT: Cut to 31” with a 100 grain easton bullet point installed (27 7/8” draw 57# but if your draw is 26 to 30 and you're between 50 and 60 pounds you’re good.)
VaneMaster Settings: 3 degree LEFT HELICAL - Reason: When the nocks are rotated for rest clearance, the vanes clear the cables really well when I adjust the cable guard in really close on my Podium X 37.
Nock Receiver Location: - 1.5 (there’s a zero setting, I'm on the 1.5 hash to the right of zero) This gives me room to anchor without the vanes touching my face at full draw.

ENJOY!

MUST READ-EXCELLENT REPEATABLE JIG Review by Mike D.

DETAILED REVIEW to address some of other concerns mentioned above, and answers some questions. I've been fletching my own arrows for 20 yrs. My first jig was a Bitzenberger, and I have 2 of these set up - one for a 1° offset, and one for a 2° offset. The Bitz has always been excellent and gives great results, but takes a lot of time to set up and adjust the initial settings. That is why I have 2 of these, and once set up I do not change them in anyway. In addition, the glue often sticks to the vane clamps if you're not careful. I have had the VMP for 2 months now, and it is excellent. IMPORTANT: the end result is likely the same as the Bitz. However, 1) This jig is extremely easy to set up initially, and change back and forth with perfect repeatability. 2) Glue does NOT stick to the Teflon coated guide wires. 3) Fletching aligns perfectly and flat with the shaft for great adhesion (AAE Pro Max vanes, AAE Max Fletch glue). 4) The VMP is not made out of "plastic," but instead is precision machined from likely high density Delrin. 5) The VMP sits flat on my bench and does not require attachment to the bench to prevent tipping over. 6) The elastic compression cord keeps the nock seated perfectly in the nock receiver. 7) Using the 90 degree 4-fletch knob, I can fletch an arrow and have it make a perfect "X" orientation with the string and rest for perfect clearance without needing to rotate the nock - hence, it is very easy to refletch damaged vanes (I use the L 1st indent adjustment on knob). 8) Easy and repeatable to fletch all sizes from VAPs to Beman Juniors to Gold Tip Pro Hunter. It never misses a beat, and provides excellent, repeatable, clean, easy to set up results. Excellent product and excellent value even considering price. Good luck.

This is easily one of the best purchases i have made in a while. I have used my Bitzenberger for 20 years, but it is not as precise and repeatable as the VMP.
No matter what diameter arrow you need to fletch the Vane Master Pro does a superb job!
I can fletch my Wife's Easton one 900's and my Black eagle Magnums with no adjustment to the jig.
You can get Right or Left offsets of 1-5 % by relocating one stop pin.
Excellent product, and American made!

This is absolutely the best jig I've ever used, hands down. The options, and ability to repeat a setting without having to tinker make it great for going back and forth between skinny outdoor arrows and fat indoor arrows. And the customer service from Last Chance and Lancaster are second to none!

Best Fletching Jig I have ever used Review by natedogg

I am not a pro arrow builder or a professional archer by any means. I enjoy Archery and decided to start building my own arrows. I was looking for a fletching jig and really liked the Vane Master pro but was put off by the cost. After reading reviews including the ones on this site I decided to go with a less expensive time tested jig. I used that for 4-5 months but I could not get the hang of it and seemed like I spent more time adjusting the jog to do different things and fit different arrows. I was growing frustrated and thinking about just buying arrows custom built from somebody that knows that they are doing and built how I wanted.

I decided to go back and look at the Vane Mater Pro again after reading comments from them that if you are not happy for any reason you can return for a full refund. Well I figured what did I have to lose so I ordered one and I have not regretted it for a moment. I have fletched 4 or 5 dozen arrows since I have had it with no issues. I have fletched arrows and shot them for a few days and then redone them just to try something different. I truly enjoy using the product.

As to some of the post on or reviews on and out there. I have not had any problems with good fletching contact. I have fletched everything from micro diameter shafts for hunting to larger indoor 27 arrows with no problem. In the time it would have taken me to change my old jig I can be halfway done with the arrows on the VMP.

I understand that the cost my be off putting for some and it is a big investment. But if you take into consideration the amount of money you would spend to be able to get another jig to do as much as the VMP you would not be saving any money. Also with the way the LCA stands behind their products what do you have to lose.

I paid full price for my VMP and am more than happy with the purchase and the money spent. Sure would I have liked to save a few bucks absolutely but sometimes good quality cost money. If you are like me that likes to try different things, this will pay for itself in no time. This is a great jig for beginners and experienced arrow builders.

I've owned this jig for almost a year now and will say this is the only jig I will use ever again. I had used the bitz in the past, but no longer. Once you understand how it works it is much more precise and more efficient. It is so much easier to get perfect helical, alignment to nock, and perfect gap from nock to vane. Once I find my desire setup, I write down the settings to use as a later reference for fletching the same model arrow. Another thing I really like about this jig is if you shoot one vane off, you don't have to refletch all three vanes, but only the one you shot off. This jig is worth the money. Sometimes you have to pay to play. Lastly, Last Chance's customer service is second to none!

Vane Master Pro Review by Team Frady

I have been shooting Archery Equipment since 1976. I have been a Machinist for over 32 years now and have been in the Outdoor Industry since 1993. We have shot ASA, IBO, NFAA , NAA, we have Bowhunted on 3 continents . With that said , The fact that all people do not agree on all subjects is their Given right to express them selves. After reading some reviews and after testing the Vane Master Pro by Last Chance Archery for my self, there is nobody that can be more critical about Machined parts and Assembled than I and our Team. I have ran several hundred dozen shafts thru the Vane Master Pro thru our shop , for clients, camps and for our team. Now it did take some time to get used to the Vane Master Pro , as with any New Product. After some time and trial and error. We worked everything out and we make shafts with No Issues. Just need to spend some time on making adjustments . Write down your settings, shaft size ,nock type, glue etc, And when a client or you maybe you are fletching shafts for yourself, you have your settings recorded and set up for a particular shaft or for refletching is quick and easy. Yes, it is on the high end as far as pricing . But if you want a Fletching tool that will do everything you will ever need. This is it ! Period. And it is made in the Good Old U.S.A.
And it is also portable with it's on carrying case. I would like to see the Vane Master Pro come with the 4 fletch attachment included. But this is the only thing I can find that I would recommend. Again this is my opinion and I have worked with many products over the last 40 years and I can assure you , These are the Good Ole Days when it comes to Equipment Choices, and I choose Last Chance Archery Products because they work.

My highest recommendation, except for price Review by Eric W
Value
Quality

If you want to experiment with different helical amounts, or direction, this covers it. If you need to replace one vane from a friend's arrow, you can adjust this to match the existing vanes, and then replace the one that needs it. If you have customers with different desires, you can accommodate them. If you keep a record of their preferences, you can repeat them in the future.

I have a background as a machinist and toolmaker, this is a high quality tool. It is mostly machined plastic, not cast, so the accuracy is there. The plastic is high quality in itself. It has various scales and markings so that you can set it up to different specifications, repeatably.

I wonder, truly, if the negative reviews are from competitors, because they are undeserved and inaccurate.

VMP fetching jig, The Best. can't believe others have problems Review by Power-Strings

This is the best, easiest, fetching by far. Used Blitz and Jansen for years and was hesitant about the cost until I finally got tired of spending so much time trying to get perfect matched fetching for my own arrows plus stopped fetching for customers years ago b/c it wasn't profitable.
The VMP actually makes fetching enjoyable again!!
To those that had problems try contacting last chance I'm sure they would want your jig back to see if maybe it wasn't made to spec? If your not able to get fletching block to the shaft it's got to be out of spec.

An enigma... Review by Gigantor1976

I've been fletching my own arrows for almost 3 decades. After years of never being fully satisfied with my Bitz and my Bohning Helix, I decided I'd give the VMP a shot. I've been trying to figure this thing out for a couple weeks now and I'm still confounded as to how to get complete vane contact with uniform pressure along the entire vane base. I've managed to get 3 vanes to stick to the same arrow ONCE. But even then, the vane did not make complete contact along the entire length of one side. My typical result is that the vane comes back off when I try to slide the "clamp" away from the arrow. At first I thought I might have a bad tube of glue so I grabbed another - same result. I've tried applying pressure everywhere I can to try to ensure I'm getting good contact - same result. If I get this thing figured out, I'll be sure to update my review. Until then, I can't recommend this wickedly expensive jig to anyone. Save your hard earned money.

My plastic Bohning Helix works every time, is half the size, and is nearly a sixth the price.

Stay Away Review by Thomas Hare

To put it bluntly, this jig is junk...It doesnt apply even pressure across the whole length of the vane. I actually had to push the center down to get any kind of good adhesion. The helical is not repeatable as it doesnt lock down. I'd finish an arrow and find that one of the vanes is sitting at a different angle than the other two. Initially I thought this would be a good jig for replacing one vane when damaged. But because the helical or offset is not repeatable it is a crapshoot trying to get it to work. The fact that its pretty much 100% plastic doesnt bother me by itself. BUT because the design is awful its just another thing I hate about it. This is thoughtlessly designed, cheaply made, and priced to high. Last Chance is using their good name that they got making nice presses to make a bunch of money selling this overpriced junk to loyal customers.

This is the easiest, most precise all in one jig on the market today. So simple even a 5 year old can fletch with it. I've been in the archery industry for 8 years, not near as long as most but i've fletched my share of arrows. Competing nationally all over the US in ASA, NFAA and USA archery events it calls for a lot of fletching to accommodate all those tournaments. Including doing the fletching for the other 5 archers in my family. If you haven't tested out this jig, give it a try!!!

Bought this jig because I heard how great it was. Have been building my own arrows for over 4 Decades and I am a Pro Archer. This jig is no where NEAR worth the money and it does not fletch as well as quick as claimed. It takes quite a bit of setting it up before you can get a good fletch and being made out of composite it is even less worth the money. I will stick to my Blitz. Don't waste your money this jig needs more work and made out of better materials. At over 2 bills it should also include the 4 fletch knob and any other needed items. Again , not worth the money whatsoever it is just simply not that great. And not a big leap above a Blitzenburger as stated by some.

fletched straight up to a 7 deg helical with perfect contact. Well worth the cost. You have to set the individual rockers so that they hit the shaft right or you won't get contact. If you don't actually set it up it properly it won't work, which is what I'm assuming happened with the bad reviews. It is made out of a polymer but calling it "plastic" does not do this jig justice. Best Jig on the market hands down

I have used a bitzenburger exclusively for several years. This Last Chance Vane Master Pro is much easier, efficient and precise. It is so much easier to get perfect alignment to nock, perfect helical, and perfect gap from nock to vane. I can also get a more consistent bead of glue when the vane is in the block.

Helical adjustments are very simple, and fast. There is supposed to be the capability to fletch 4 vanes, based on the video it looks like there is an additional knob for this. My unit did not include a knob.

I was hesitant to purchase due some of the negative reviews on here. I have not had trouble getting contact like some other users. I do not think this jig gives you the force of the Bitz but it is not required.

If your looking into buying a jig to save money over taking your arrows to the archery shop you should pass on this jig. If you are purchasing a jig because you want more quality than the shop can offer and you want the flexibility of custom fletching this is the one for you.
