- Excellent Riser Review by Rick
-
Price Value Quality I purchased the 25" Samick Athlete Riser and matched it up with a set of medium length Trad Tech BF Extreme Carbon Limbs. The limbs are rated at 40#+ on a 17" riser and I thought I would get at least 10# weight reduction by putting them on a 25" riser. Surprisingly with the Limb Bolts one and a half turns out from tight and set for 1/8" positive Tiller I'm getting 38.5 # at my 29" draw length. On my 17" Titan Riser I get 43.5 pounds. Go figure, no complaints though, I'll be using this setup for IFAA Field Target and 3D Barebow competition so the draw weight will be Ideal. The Riser is well made, with a nice painted finish. Limb adjustment's are top of the line, although you only get a one page manual showing and explaining proper set up. No recommended Brace Height or string length is mentioned. I went to the Samick Web site and found the brace height . I make my own strings and found a string 3 inches shorter then bow length works great. My 68 inch Bow with a 14 strand D97 string and a brace height of 8 3/4 inches is the Smoothest Recurve I ever shot . I'm shooting Three Fingers Under with Easton 2016 Legacy Shafts off a Shibuya Ultima Recurve Rest with DX Plunger this setup is capable of perfect Scores. I'm very happy with the Athlete and although listed as an Intermediate Level Riser it will win Gold if the Archer pulling the string does his job !!!!!
