impressive Review by dantheman

Been bow hunting for 24 years. Traditional the last 17. I wanted to try a horsebow and shoot off the hand. Bought my son a sage a couple of years ago in 55# and was impressed by it. When I found out samick was making horsebows, I found one and ordered it immediately. First evening I got it I shot it probably 200 times. Next morning I killed a nice deer with it. Now its all that I hunt and target shoot with because I love shooting off the hand, and the bow is so smooth. I'd really like to get one in the 60# pound . I have six other bows that cost two to three times more, but now they just collect dust.

fast, accurate Review by rhymespillah

HURLS arrows, and mine is labeled 40#. It has been a GREAT bow for learning on. I draw back to 31-32", with no problems so far after four months and what must have been at least 5000+ shots up until now...it seems tough. I am not a hunter, but I am fairly confident that the performance of this bow warrants attention by hunters--it is light, maneuverable, very fast, and accurate. I made my own arrow rest after going through many gloves shooting off the top of my hand, and my accuracy has improved to the point with this bow to where I consistently get 4-6" groupings at 40yds. The carbon in the construction of this bow is the only high-tech thing about it, and my traditional archery friends are all drooling and a few buying their own... It is a beautiful bow to shoot and to watch being shot. It makes other bows look/feel wonky/clunky compared to its lightness and grace. The dynamic recurve of the limb tip really opens up during a long draw and the elasticity of the bow is amazing to see in action. Originally noisy, I first remediated some of that with "cat whisker" string silencers. Hunters will want a string-groove silencer adhered to the limb for extra sneakiness though as it still *smacks*. I've now wrapped wool yarn tightly around the recurve for the length of the string groove using a knotless weavers finish and it is whisper quiet. I would recommend this bow to anyone.

Great bow to get into asiatic style "horsebows" Review by Daniel Cunningham

Ive been shooting recurves for around 5 years and just recently became interested in "horsebows" and playing around with thumb rings and thumb releases.
So after reading many reviews i ordered the mind 50. Initial reaction was "wow-what a tiny bow" I knew it would be small but still a shock. Dont let the size fool you.

I was sent the wrong string at first but lancasters shipped me the right one free of charge, i had a week where i couldnt shoot it, this gave me time to place the rubber grip, wrap it in soaked suede cord, and wrap above the grip with synthetic sinew for an arrow pass.

Got the right string on and set brace height for 6 1/4". Wow... even for just the 45#er this thing is really fast with little handshock and weighs next to nothing!

Even for such a short bow, using 3 fingers- finger pinch is not bad (not using a tab) and would be a great bow to practice thumb release. I also thought a short bow like this would be very unforgiving with form but i can shoot it just as well as my 60", 62", and 64" recurves.

Great bow, draw weight off! Review by Spiritarcher

This is a beautifully made bow. It is very small and light and has excellent cast. It comes with a separate rubber grip that you will have to figure out how to install. I wrapped mine with nylon string and plan to fashion a thin leather grip around it. The bow's draw weight is NOT measured a 28", instead it is measured at 30". Mine is labeled 40# but is actually pulling 30# at 28". I guess the draw weight is determined for traditional Korean style shooting, where you pull way past the ear. So order a higher draw weight than you want to have for mediterranean style shooting. I read in different forums that the difference in draw weight was noticed by quite a few people, so it's not a labeling mistake. Bottom line: A very nice bow!

I've had this bow for 8 months. I've had no problem with this bow whats so ever. the only concern is that this bow is loud, i'd recommend you get string silencers. other than that , this bow is fast!

Have had it since march of 2013, second review. Review by Old Archer

Got this bow in march of 2013, and wrote a review. Decided to write another review after having it for a while. Easiest bow to get used to I ever had. 40 yards and in is a snap. Got 2 does with it this past deer season, one at almost point blank range, shooting off the ground and had a complete pass through shot, and it only walked about 30 feet and fell. The other was also a ground shot at 38 yards, and the arrow went to the vanes, this one flopped over after 35 yards or so. Mine is a 40 pound, but still has a very fast cast for a recurve. As you might have guessed, I don't use tree stands, as I am a stalk and wait hunter. If you like recurve bows, this is real bang for the buck, (or doe). Old archer.

Had it for a couple of months, might be the best bow I ever owned. Review by Old Archer

After reading reviews about the mind 50, I couldn't resist ordering one. Short and to the point, it is light, doesn't stack, smoothest pulling bow I ever shot. It took about 3 arrows to start pegging 35 yard shots inside 6 inches, and that was before I had fitted any arrows for it. I can now usually shoot 4 inch groups at 40 yards, and it's cast is quite fast, especially after I adjusted the string so I have a nearly 7 inch brace height and the knock point set. I have bows that cost 3-4 times what this one did, and this one will out-shoot every one of them. It is the most natural shooting bow I have ever experienced. Mine is a 40 pound draw, and I plan to use it for deer next fall. I've built bows all my life, and wish I could make one this good. Old Archer.

this is a great bow, fast and steady and what you want in a traditional bow. Not as quiet as the ktb but can be adjusted for such. the only qualm i have is how to hold itcuz it doesnt come with a grip. other than that it is beautiful.

Don't underestimate this bow! Review by Lefty

I bought this bow because it has carbon fiber limbs for the price of about $200.00. Try getting a bow with carbon limbs from any other manufacturer for this price. This bow casts arrows well however you will be shooting arrows off your knuckle. I have arrows that weigh the same as this bow (without the grip) but I am very satisfied with it. My only regret is that I didn't get a heavier poundage bow (I got the 50 lb model). It is a flawless bow recommended for both beginner and expert.
