Great bow, great customer service Review by Thathoodguy

So I received this bow in march of last year and I LOVED it, low hand shock, and it shoots better than I do. however after 6 months and about 2-300 arrows through it the bow de-laminated suddenly with a 16 inch split down the center. however Lancaster customer support was very helpful and i should get a replacement shortly!

Good, not Great Review by Aaron

I shot a 32 # recurve for about 4 months before picking this number up, and I went with the 50 # model, because with my 24-25 inch draw it comes back down to about 40 # for me personally. First off the bow is not red it comes with a very nice natural wood tone which I was relieved with honestly. If you are coming from the recurve world or compound world prepare yourself for some hand shock, especially if you are new and you don't know about brace height, arrow weight or handle covering material. Once you get some tennis racket handle material on there, tune the brace height and maybe throw on a string silencer that will eliminate most of the shock, then you just get used to it and forget it even happens. As it was stated above the handle is not very sculpted at all so make sure you put your arrow rest in the right spot. Just in case it helps my brace height is about 7-1/2 inches and I could probably go up to 8. I am not disappointed by my purchase but I do wish I would have saved a little more and gotten the Verna for the reflex/deflex plus the better sculpted handle.

I've had this bow for almost a year now and can't express how much I love it. This is my first traditional bow and definitely not going to be my last. I highly recommend this bow to anyone interested in traditional archery!

Since first shooting my Red Stag longbow I have given away my recurve and my compound. This super light weight bow will hit anything I ask it to and with considerable authority.

Good Bow Review by Kurtis

I am new to archery completely new. not coming back from a hiatus or anything but just starting off. I went straight to traditional because I like things that are traditional. My interests are target shooting. Maybe some 3D shoots and SCA medieval type archery competitions.

So I ordered the PSE 22lbs draw snake bow for my wife and we shot that for about a month before I decided on buying this bow. Everything I had read said to start off with a nice easy draw weight but I also wanted something that would get the job done and not have to work up later. That said I settled on the 40# red stag.

when I got it in it was packaged well and right on schedule no dings to mention and everything looked good. I placed a flipper II adhesive backed arrow rest on it from a local sports shop and also bought the string nock and tuning kit from there.

Shooting the bow at first was a lot to get used to because I am an all day shooter. I like to put 100 rounds down range in a couple of hours or so. Later did I learn this is not really recommended for the beginning archer and I was sore the next day, really sore like I just started lifting weights which I suppose was to be expected. I called and had set everything to send the bow back and opt an exchange for a lower draw weight, which Lancaster was very accepting of this quite supportive and great to deal with. So long story short if you arent a shooter already, dont overdue it believe me you will know it if you do.

After having the bow for a week and following some advice from a guy named moebow on youtube who preaches proper from above all things, I am improved greatly have no soreness and love it. Im glad I didnt send the bow back because I am getting used to it and it really didnt take as long as I thought it would.

I do believe it has some handshock but nothing that is bothersome just a characteristic of shooting the longbow. for the price I am exceedingly pleased and having a lot of fun with it.
I highly recommend this bow

Also make sure you get the long bow stringing tool, it is a pain in the butt to string and unstring without it.

I ordered this bow and got it within a week, which is great! I have only had it for one day, but it shoots very nice. The picture above shows that the handle is red, but it is more brown, which I liked. If you want a longbow and can't spend too much, I definitely recommend this bow to you!

I wish the archer was better Review by stagger

This is a well made, extremely capable bow. It is a bare bones bow and exactly what I was looking for as my first longbow. I have not shot my six hundred dollar compound since I purchased this bow at the beginning of the summer. In fact, I am really thinking about selling my compound and purchasing another in a higher draw weight and using my current stag as a backup. The grip isn't as sculpted as some of the higher price bows, but it shoots as well as I am capable at this time. Definitely recommend for those looking to try the longbow or to have another on hand for friends and family to shoot in the yard or at the club.

Excellent bow at any price Review by lostaro

I've shot many traditional bows over the years, both custom and factory models. I am amazed at the Red Stag longbow. Hard to believe a bow at this price can shoot so well. It is quiet, quick and has far less handshock than any straight longbow I've tried. This will be my go to hunting bow for bowseason. You won't be disappointed.
