FANTASTIC Review by Mama Archer

My daughter has been using this riser for almost 2 years, and LOVES it! She has the Matte Dark Grey and it is BEAUTIFUL! She has placed and many state tournaments with it and many people have asked her what she was shooting because it looked so expensive. She has just upgraded to the Wiawis Nano, but she refused to sell this one, because she has loved it so much. She said she wants to keep it for fun shooting. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

The Perfect Bow Review by Bowtastic

Hello All
My daughter has been using this riser with SF PREMIUM+ limbs for 6 months now. I have tried it out myself about 15 to 20 times and I'm quite impressed with it. The thing that caught my attention right away was how good the riser looked and felt. Top quality for a riser with a higher price. As an intermediate bow you have the best in this package, there will be no need for an upgrade in the near future. The riser has all the necessary bells, whistles and adjustments you will need. Again the riser has such a great finish that any picture you see of it doesn't do it justice. Way to go SF.

Awesome riser for aspiring beginners Review by Sebouh Ohanian

Been using this riser for 6 months.
I would really recommend this bow for people who have started archery, and are serious about the sport. as opposed to buying something slightly cheaper that you WILL grow out of within a year or so depending on how quick you improve. This bow will easily last you for 4 years.
I would also recommend this bow to those who will take the sport as a hobby as well, since anything more is overkill (in my opinion) for conventional use.
I have been very satisfied with this bow, i like that the plunger and arrow rest were included. As a note the arrow rest will not stick on for long, and will eventually fly off with a shot. I am sure this happens more to those who have the matte texture as i do, it makes the surface slightly bumpy, hence why i think the adhesive doesn't stick properly in the long run. As a replacement for the rest i got the SF Velocity Arrow Rest as it is screwed on.
The plunger works properly, and probably will not need to replace it soon.
Have this combined with the SF Axiom limbs.
The build quality is perfect, and is pretty popular at the club.
would have liked the riser to include a cover for the it as well.

I just received my Forged Plus and am very happy. I put a sort of SF package together with the Forged Plus, SF premium carbon limbs, velocity stabilizer set and velocity pro carbon sight. Also bought the SF stand. My local shop put it together and tuned it. From the first shot I New I had an unbelievable upgrade to what I was shooting before. For The price you can't find a better bow.

Very Satisfied Review by David S.

I recently chose this for my first recurve riser, and I am very pleased. I'm new to the sport, and my goal was to find the best value bow. I went with axiom limbs and an entry-level stabilizer / v-bar. Right out of the box, the limb alignment, brace height, and tiller were all spot on. Without any adjustment, I was getting great groupings at 15 yards.

I bought the bow in person at Lancaster Archery, and so I also have to add that I really enjoyed their customer service. I had never even snapped the limbs onto a recurve riser before, and they took the time to walk me through the entire setup process. In total, I think they spent about 90 minutes working with me to set up and test the bow. They were also very low-pressure. They actually talked me down to cheaper limbs and suggested that I just use the arrow rest that comes with the Forged Plus riser.

Good starter riser, QC should be better at $250 Review by Kustardking

My first riser, I've been shooting it for 9 months, getting mid 280/300 NFAA on 40cm at 20m. However, I disagree that it, "Meets extremely high specifications". My stabilizer sticks out to the right almost 2 degrees. I didn't think anything of it at first, not knowing anything about bows, but the un-straight threading revealed itself when I got good enough to warrant checking my alignment.

I shoot this riser with the SF Premium Carbon limbs, and it works very well! A perfectly weight as I like... Minimal vibration, the arrow rest works well, the limb alignment is very good and easy to adjust and the grip is very neutral as I like... The finish is BEAUTIFUL in the red one! I really like this riser!

Perfect Review by Haru

I bought the Forged + about a month ago and had my local archery store put it all together for me, mostly because of the arrow rest, as I tend to screw up their adhesives. I really enjoyed the riser, it fits well in the hand, looks great, and feels sturdy and well made (there was some imperfections that the handle mold left behind). Unfortunately last weekend the arrow rest just fell right off, not sure why (as I assume it was assembled correctly by the store). Either way, it was the only hiccup in a rather nice and well priced riser.

Great quality at an affordable price! Buy one! Review by Jeff Hale

Don't let the price of this riser fool you, it's on par in regards to quality as other risers costing 3 times as much. This riser is one of the best values out there. It takes 4oz on a short stab for perfect balance. Shoots well barebow as well, some call it an intermediate riser...in some reviews. I don't feel that is accurate. You can spend 3 times the cost of this riser and realize little to no benefit. I have gotten two of them in last 30 days. The first one was anodized blue and the finish was flawless. The second one is matter dark grey and the finish on that one is flawless as well. The limb alignment is set at the factory did not have to adjust either riser. The grip is very neutral, which is a good thing. It fits small hands to large (Not extra large) It weighs 2.4 pounds and reacts well on the shot. What else can I say? Buy one and find out.

Forged+ is a great ILF riser Review by elpcavy21

I did a lot of research, and weighed the pros and cons to this riser with my local archery range. What I found is that for the price point, you can't get a better entry level-intermediate ILF riser. The riser is well built, the edges and details are very precise and it has many options for expansion of accessories. I'm very happy with the fit and finish on this riser, and would recommend it to anyone looking to get into a ILf setup for their archery needs.

I have owned this riser for a couple months now, and it shoots extremely well.

Fantastic riser. Review by Yaztromo

I've been shooting this riser for roughly 9 months now, and it has been fantastic. The matte dark grey looks fantastic (I like to shoot with grey/black gear, as it minimizes visual distraction for me). The fit and finish is perfect -- if I had never seen a riser before and someone told me this was the best riser ever made, I'd be willing to believe them. Lots of well machined holes for accessories. No burrs anywhere to be found. The matte coating has taken a beating with nary a scratch.

As a bit of an aside, this last weekend I shot in a local double-720 tournament, sharing a butt with two other archers. I commented to one during practice who was also shooting this riser that he had great taste in risers, only to hear a voice behind me pipe up saying "You should have got red. Red is best". I looked behind me to see our clubs best recurve archer, a guy who has shot in the World Cup, using the same riser (but in red, naturally). This is a guy who is well beyond the intermediate level, and this is the riser he's shooting. That's good enough for me!

My first riser, so going on the opinions of those I shoot with Review by Michael J

After doing some research online I went with this riser as my first. It had a few more options that the competition at this price point. The riser looks good and the quality of construction is great -- no burs, paint looks good, machining looks finished. As for the included parts, I replaced the rest almost immediately but the plunger has been serving me well for 6 months. The old timers at my club were impressed with it and many had not seen it before. I'm happy I purchased it and expect it to last me many seasons until I have to upgrade.

Great riser, top value Review by Malcolm Bruce

This riser is a great unit and a big step up for me from my club style bow. Finish is supurb and it's ready to go right out of the box with limb adjustment and plunger factory set. You do need to double check the limb bolts are nice and tight. Also, don't even bother putting the SF supplied magnetic rest on as it fell apart on my bow's second outing-but it's an easy $10 fix. That minor issue aside, this is an awesome riser and excellent value for money.

Beautiful Riser, included plunger and rest only so so Review by ArcherDan
Value
Quality

This riser, itself, exudes quality. The fit and finish are beautiful. The bolts and fittings hardware appear to be stainless and are devoid of any machining marks. The painted finish is flawless. The included plunger comes with several springs for tuning and is quite serviceable if not sexy. The included arrow rest is the worst aspect of this package. It doesn't lie flat on the bow and the adhesive only makes partial contact. The magnet side of the arm is too short to reach the magnet if the pivot is adjusted to center the arrow. It's going away. One bit of custom finishing was required. The limb bolts were very sharp around their circumference where the limb base contacts them when installed. After a few shots, my S/F limbs had "moons" starting to cut into finish of the limb pad bearing surface. I removed the limb bolts and chucked them into a drill press and dressed them up with #400 wet paper. They are now rounded and mirror smooth. Despite this, I would definitely buy this riser again. For me, a better rest is the only change. The riser itself is top notch.

You can absolutely not find a better bow for the money. The quality and finish rivals many higher end bows. I shoot this bow with the matching SF Premium Carbon limbs and SF Velocity Carbon sight with a SF Elite Carbon 30" stabilizer. It shoots like a dream, the only thing I would do is buy a better string. The dacron string stretches to much. But you can't complain by any means.

Bought the SF Forged Plus riser and the Winact Limbs that Lancaster had on sale. All I can say, is that I can't be happier! The finish on the riser is outstanding. The included plunger and arrow rest work perfectly. The grip is comfortable and the bow has good balance. I don't think you can buy a better riser for the money.

Like everyone said above, you can't get a better riser for the money. It's beautifully made, with a great finish and attention to detail. It gets envious looks from everyone else at the club, even from guys with risers costing three times as much.
In case you were wondering, yes it does come in a titanium colored matte grey, and an even darker "dark matte grey" though this seems to be on longterm back-order. The darker one is gorgeous, almost a deep charcoal grey.

What a great riser! Review by Topher

This is my first riser. However, I did more research than I am willing to admit. The finish is outstanding! I recieved the matte gray that almost has an olive color to it. I took it out and shot it within an hour of receiving the riser. The grip is fine for me because I do not have the largest hands (I shot a med. tab.). I can see how people may see the grip as a little small. Again however this can be corrected if needed.

I bought the Axiom limbs, large at 34# and was surprised how very smooth the draw was. I had no adjustments needed with the limb pickets.

Highly recommend this riser, if beginning or even if you been in the sport for a while.

I got the gray riser, and am shooting with the axiom limbs. As of my first bow, it is shooting great. I haven't had any problems with it after around 10,000 arrows. This riser was at the top of our price range, and worth every cent. If only it had came with instructions, it couldn't have been better.

I did quite extensive research in this price range (all I could afford) and was absolutely delighted to finally pick this one. Its finish is superb, the pressure button, machining and alignment are great - it shoots well and looks good. I had a look at comparable products from Hoyt, Win-Win, Samick and so on but none of them seemed to offer the equivalent for the price. Buy with confidence.

Well spent Review by Geoside

I purchased this riser after comparing it to similar priced risers. I decided on this riser for the reasons that it has so many pluses.
It comes with a plunger and a magnetic arrow rest. Yes the rest hangs out if you shoot short arrows nothing a file can’t take care of. If you are a novice and want to get some wows and ooos from the Hoyt guys in your club this is the machine.
I purchased Apple 38 LBS long limbs. They popped right in and this precision machine was ready to launch arrows.
Some of the pluses are: Good finish all around including tapped holes galore. Fittings for stabilizers. Spot tapped out for clicker. It comes with a plunger and a magnetic arrow rest. It also has a tool kit for every hex head on the riser.
Negatives: Hmmm no instructions on how to set it up. Get one of your friendly club guys to help you set it up. Better have the Engineer who shoots the Hoyt Super Duper (all clubs have one or two of these guys) tune it for you. While he or she is helping you see who in your club makes bow strings and have a custom one made for you. It’s worth the 15 bucks they will ask for.

Looks great, shoots great, feels great in the hand. Have yet to meet someone with this riser who regrets it. Since it includes a magnetic arrow rest and a plunger, the price is excellent for how much bow you receive. I'm shooting it with 32lb Kaya Stallion limbs. Take note that you can only adjust the weight UP by 10%, it comes at the factory default lowest poundage setting.

I've been using this riser for about 8 months now, it was part of my first bow. I haven't had any major issues with it. It shoots fantastic. The arrow rest and button plunger came with it I had some issues in the beginning with the arrow rest chewing up the vanes on my arrows but with some adjustment to the plunger I was able to get it tuned correctly.

My only issue with it is that the grip requires a wrap of some kind. I've found it to be slippery in my hand while at full draw.

I shot this riser with W&Wact limbs (36lbs. / long). Out of the box, the riser is impressive. The finish was flawless, and all accessory holes were clean so all accessories (stabilizer, etc.) bolted on without problems. The limbs attached easily and did not require any adjustments for alignment. Overall, the riser / bow setup went smoothly. The only surprise, was that the length of the included arrow rest was slightly too long for the riser. I had to file the back edge of the arrow rest to get it to sit flush with the belly edge of the riser. The arrow rest worked fine, but I prefer a flush fit. For the money, this riser is an excellent buy.
