This is a cheap and attractive looking armguard. You don't need much more to protect your forearm though perhaps a full length (past elbow) armguard is something you want to consider if you're just starting as I initially had a lot of issues with striking above the arm guard. There were some frayed edges that were easily taken care of with a lighter. The elastic seems like it should have some good longevity based on the fact I've also been using it to bind a wrapped bundle of my riser and limbs.
