- Smooth on the Draw - Quiet on the Release Review by Bo Archer
-
Price Value Quality I got a set of 35# TradTech Glass/Wood limbs in Medium to pair with my Hoyt 21" Excel riser. This gives me a 64" bow. These limbs feel great on the draw—very smooth without stacking. They are also quiet, even without silencing gear. I added a set of beaver balls on a Bearpaw Fast Flight Flemish 3 Color String, and now they are dead silent!
Surprisingly, these 35# limbs actually pull around 44# @ 28" on my Excel riser at 0 tiller. But that’s just fine with me. I actually like the heavier weight now. The limb pocket angle of the riser will greatly affect how any ILF limbs might pull, as well as the riser length rating of the limbs themselves. These limbs are rated 35# on a 19” riser, but at what angle? So, I recommend calling Lancaster and talking with them before you choose your limb weight.
I am shooting these limbs to work on my form and for short to medium range practice. I am working up to shoot my other pair of 55# Medium TT Black Max Carbon limbs for longer distances.
I like the wood-grain paired with the Excel Blackout riser and wooden Hoyt grip. With the radiused, heavy-grade felt shelf and strike plate pads that Lancaster pre-installed on the riser, I’ve got the exact rig I was looking for!(Posted on 3/26/13)
