Good performance, okay durability. Review by Wameng Yang

I've used the normal (fluorescent) XS Vanes before trying these out. They're exactly the same in terms of application and performance. They're great in those respects. They do seem a bit more fragile to me in comparison to the normal xs vanes. Maybe this is due to the metallic layer.

I have gone months without these vanes getting damaged at all. They are indestructible and I have shot my best scores with them. Wont use anything else.

I bought my first pack of Xs Wings for field archery. They were very new to me but the folks at Lancaster answered every question I had. I put them on Velocity 400s and won the State Senior Olympics in a 900 round. I now have them on all of my arrows and will use them next fall for Bow Season!

Too easily damaged Review by Scott Bowman

So I have tried these vanes twice and keep coming up with the same problem. Yes they are durable, and yes they shoot very nice, but if the vanes impact your other arrows, they bend at the leading edge. It's not much, but there is a small dent in the vane that you cannot straighten back out like you can with Spins or Kurlys. This dent at the front of the vane, causes additional drag on the arrow at longer distance. If you really like the flight and performance of the vanes, just make sure you have plenty of arrows in a tournament. I have used twice as much of these versus Kurlys over equal spans of time just due to the damage done to the front of these vanes. Also, if you happen to shoot though your clicker, kiss that vane and any possible points goodbye. The vanes are so stiff, they actual bend the clicker as they get ripped off. This doesn't happen as badly with any other spin type vane.

Great with Compound Bow! Review by Greg White

The look... great! The spin and accuracy... fantastic!

I shoot a target compound bow set at 57.2 lbs shooting Victory VAP V1 arrows. I now use these vanes exclusively. I have two dozen VAP's. One has the blue chrome the other the silver chrome. I also have a pack of gold. These vanes are stiff which is great for the 283 fps these arrows are flying. They can take a pretty good beating considering the single spot target shooting I am doing. I shoot with a blade rest and you have to make certain of good clearance or else the vanes will break. But in my view, that is on me.

The application is different than I was used to. I use the Beiter Tri Liner, which cost some extra, but with a sharpie you make perfect lines. These are lines you will use again and again. So it is worth it. Once the lines are made you pre-cut the double-sided tape to the desired length and start the most difficult part of the process. Once you get the tape on the very small arrows in a straight line adjacent to the line drawn... start to peel the tape. It is really sticky and great stuff. You line up your vane and blamo... good to go. Use the black pin striping tape on each end.

The black tape on the front of the vanes is critical. At the velocity these arrows are traveling you will lose a vane if you don't have a millimeter or two of the leading edge of the vane covered.

To re-vane is the best part. Super easy... just peel off the black tape on the ends... carefully peel of the old vane (if it is still present) and grab another vane. Place it, and tape it on the ends again! If you need to replace the double sided strip, you just use the line that is already there and do it. Super easy and no mess!

The looks are great, the performance is really good, the application is easy and non-messy. I say GO FOR IT! This is a great product for compound target shooters who want an edge at distance.
