After hundreds of hours of determined planning for the 2021 LAS Classic Tournament, we are heartbroken to have exhausted all options to be able to host this tournament in January of 2021. I personally - and we collectively - apologize for not being able to deliver on a Classic event as planned despite our very best efforts. To explain and be transparent, PA Gov. Wolf’s administration on Dec. 10 instituted new and expanded levels of restrictions that limited gatherings to 10 people and forbid sporting events. Until that time, we still would have been able to host the Classic at the Nook for the 1,000+ archers who registered.
We created plans for the Classic that focused on keeping attendees as safe as possible through social distancing and the use of masks and hand sanitizer throughout the event. Even with these extraordinary preparations in place, we were forced to cancel the Classic due to measures outside of our control.
The Lancaster Archery Classic is, and always has been, our way of saying “Thank You” to our customers, the archery community and the industry for the friendships and blessings that our involvement in the sport has provided. We considered a virtual event, but that didn’t feel right to us because our purpose has always been to bring archers together to enjoy the fellowship and networking of an in-person event.
We will immediately begin issuing a full refund of all registration fees paid, having refunds issued to everyone as soon as possible. If you confirmed a hotel room with Apex Events, your hotel reservation will be cancelled for you immediately without any cancellation fees. You will receive an email confirming that your reservation was cancelled. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you do not receive your cancellation email by Friday. If you booked your hotel directly and not through the event hotel program, you will need to contact the hotel to cancel your room.
Again, we apologize for ultimately having no option other than to cancel the 2021 Classic and we share in your disappointment. We look forward to seeing and talking to you at the Classic or another tournament in the future.
Sincerely Yours in Archery,
Rob Kaufhold and the Dedicated Team of Archers at Lancaster Archery Supply
Registration for the 18th annual Lancaster Archery Classic is now open. The largest indoor archery tournament on the East Coast, the Classic is scheduled for Jan. 21-24, 2021, at Spooky Nook Sports complex in Manheim, Pa. Space is limited, due to social-distancing requirements, so archers are encouraged to register as soon as possible. Lancaster Archery Supply is offering over $300,000 in cash and prizes to archers competing in 16 divisions featuring open compound, Olympic recurve, barebow recurve and bowhunter equipment. The Classic has a unique and challenging format that archers love because it offers the greatest chance to the greatest number of competitors to win their divisions. Each archer shoots a 60-arrow qualification round, which scores the inner X ring as 11 points. That means 660 is a perfect score – which has only ever been done twice in Classic history. Top qualifiers then are set into an NCAA basketball-style bracket for head-to-head matches. The winners of those matches advance until there are four or eight finalists, depending on the division.
Held on a separate, two-lane field with dramatic lighting and television cameras, the finals are completed in a “shoot-up” format. The two lowest-ranked archers compete first, with the winner advancing to shoot against the next-highest ranked archer. That format continues until someone shoots against the highest-ranked archer for the division title. All finals matches are broadcast live on the Lancaster Archery Supply Facebook page and YouTube channel. A number of social distancing rules and safety measures will be implemented for the 2021 Classic.
